About Us
Tauranga Women’s Refuge is a community organisation established in 1980 to provide safety, information, advocacy and support to women and their children affected by violence (physical, emotional and psychological)

A womens centered organization committed to women and children having a fundamental right to lead their lives free from fear and violence

Seventy percent funded and supported by the generosity and goodwill of local service clubs, gaming trusts, local government, businesses, churches, schools and fundraising groups

Thirty percent funded by Ministry of Social Development (Child Youth and Family Services) to provide safe house shelter, Crisis Phone Line, advocacy, information and support for women and their children experience Domestic violence

Affiliated members of National Collective of Independent Womens Refuges & Aotearoa Social Service Providers, Children, Family, Community (SSPA)

Approved and funded by Child Youth and Family and Ministry of Justice to provide services and support to women and their children experiencing Domestic violence

Five part time workers (Manager, Office Administrator, Womens Advocates and Community Social Worker) supported by volunteers who provide 128 hours per/week of unpaid and voluntary service – 7 days a week 52 weeks of the year
