Good Luck from the Frontline

Well it appears that the Whanau Ora initiative being rolled out again this year has certainly caused alot of ‘discussion’ and everyone seems to be keeping there plans and proposals close to their chest – Good Luck! The Interim Police Safety Orders will start being given out to offenders JULY where police has assessed a DV/FV incident as serious and detrimental to the victim – Good Luck to the “UNDERFUNDED” Community Shelters and support agencies that will be left carrying the “baby”.  Lately, we have had to do a lot of work with Migrant women here on work, study and visitor permits who are not only isolated from their families overseas but subjected to perpertrator abuse and violence in ISOLATION; we’ve certaintly tried to help and others no doubt but when the JUDICIAL SYSTEM is set up to make Migrant women return to their abusers, face being deported, leaving there children in Good Old NZ? then  – Good Luck.  While Government efforts via Social Awareness Campaigns and Community conversations has helped disconstruct the ‘psyche’ of violence Good Old NZ/NZ still has a long way to go. GOOD LUCK.

  • Yes well …I can truely say that I am a migrant woman who had to leave the “family home” due to on going verbal, financial and emotional abuse…and a situation that was stronly leading towards physical abuse towards my children.

Like you say, government sprouts off about violence and abuse against women and children…yet my experience has been like most things “kiwi”, it is all about face value….”Let it be said, but, we won’t do anything!”

As for government, it is all about being Polically correct. That is empty, hollow and useless.!!! And what use is it just to hear it and not have anything done? I can fully understand “WHY women kill”. After having experienced the PC, yet OUT-DATED and retarted legal system here!
It does nothing for women to have slogans, adverts on TV and plastered all over doctors waiting rooms and other service providers notice boards IF those slogans do not have government backing!

Thus! WHAT is the use of a propection order if it does not propect you! Shield you from that what you have escaped? Does not provide escape avenues? Open doors to allow you to move on with your life! How can you move on and rebuild you life if you have nothing (not material) but no laws to guide the puppets and the beauracrats?! NO legal status! NO financial avenues! No family! No routine of escape! No laws which govern your property or marriage! No ability to get help financially! (But thank God at least their is legal aid) who knows what the outcome may have been otherwise?

Of what use is this “protection order” if it does not even allow you to return to the “family home” in safety to collect your belongings in a digified manner but only to be allowed by police incompencey to be accused of assulting the abuser and and treated and viewed as the perpettrator!

What is the use of the protection order if the police do not support you, by saying they are understaffed and cannot be their to protect and support you in your most vulerable and desperate hour. But use your raw emotion as an excuse to point fingers at you to say “look at her how she is behaving?” “she is emotionally unstable and out of controll!” Yes well doh!! Of course ! When the very fear you have been told you will be protect from is used to abuse you further!

But the OVERALL most truely amazing experience that I have been faced with through this farce…is the fact that because the abuser sprouted “Unstable, manic-bi-polar woman who is an unfit mother!” The micro scope just shifted its focus onto me! So instead of brillent-minded judges saying “hm I wonder why a woman in such a situation would have found herself in a women’s refuge in the first place, what is going on? and look at that angle! I’m told Because their is “smoke” their must be a “fire”!!! How narrow minded!

I have SUCH anger…and I’m not able to release it as I find myself returned to the house of the abuser now…and I wait ( like I have from the start!) for my work visa to re-instated, for residency, to “rebuild” my life, to “gain confidence” in myself, for the destruction of my children’s souls….
this is all i can muster tonight!
